He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wesley and Minnie "Millie" Berkey (Glessner); his former wife Joyce Sowers; his children, Michael Eugene, Vera Ellen and Leah Sue; his brother Eugene Berkey; his half-sister Virginia Berkey Kurtz; his cousin Jessie Kline; and also Nancy Cober Berkey.
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Randy Cober (Beth), Bradley Cober Sr. (Ann) and Jane Cober Rizzo (Danny); his grandchildren, Travis Cober (Jordan), Erika Cober (Aaron), Brad Cober Jr. (Andrea), Jessica Cober Baker (Bryan), Cassie Rizzo Burke (Justin) and Elise Rizzo Franciscus (Matthew); his great grandchildren, Meredith, Arianna, Myah, Domenic, Paityn, Miles, Cecilia, Elijah, Mina and Vincent; and his nieces and nephews, Jean Thompson, Joan Herron, Jim Berkey and Mark Kimmel.
