He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles "Bob" and Evelyn Schreffler (Escherich); and his grandchildren, Jonathan and Amanda Ohler. He is survived by: his wife Joan Hilliard; his daughters, Melissa (Steven Ohler) and Charlene (Christopher Geiger); his grandsons, Allen Ohler and Austin Geiger; and his brother Robert Schreffler.
