Marvin E. Hoover Obituary
Marvin E "Bud" Hoover, 90, passed away quietly at his home in Pine Glen on Saturday November 18th, 2023. Born in Pine Glen, he was the son of Clyde E. and Nora (Houdeshell) Hoover. On January 10, 1953, in Hagerstown, MD, he married Shirley Parnay.
Bud was a 1951 graduate of Snow Shoe High School. He spent his work life as a woodsman, cutting down trees for pulp wood and logs. He was working in the woods well into his 80s.
Bud was a generous man, well-respected by family and friends, and loved to tell stories from his life.
Bud is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley, his children Marvin R "Randy" Hoover of Pine Glen, Peggy R Hoover of State College, Todd E Hoover, and Debra "Debby" Hoover Hill both of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Gloria Hoover of Camp Hill and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Bud was predeceased by six brothers and five sisters. He was the youngest of twelve children and the last of his generation.
Thanks to the tremendous help of his son Randy, Bud was able to stay at home over his last several years of declining health.
Public viewing will be on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 11am – 1pm at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc. in Snow Shoe. Funeral service will on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the funeral home, with Pastor Catherine Dittman officiating. Burial will follow at the Advent Cemetery in Pine Glen.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to United Way of Centre County (ccunitedway.org) or Log a Load for Kids Foundation (logaload.org).
