David W. Chambers Sr. Obituary
David W. Chambers, Sr. 88, of Snow Shoe, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at his home. Born on September 6, 1935, in Clarence, he was the son of the late Cordes W. Chambers, Sr. and Mary I (Planko) Chambers. On July 7, 1956, in Clarence, he married Shelby M. Wenrick, who survives at home.
David attended the Snow Shoe High School. He was a laborer for JH France for many years before his retirement. Before working at the Brickyard, David worked on construction and helped put I80 through Centre County. He was a life member of the Queen of Archangels Parish Church in Clarence.
David played semi-professional baseball for the Pennsatooly League, Cleveland Indians, Lafeyette Chiefs, and Olean Oilers in the mid 50's. He also played for the Centre County Baseball League and the Tri Valley League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing word search puzzles, and camping at the Centre County Grange Fair. He was an avid Penn State Football fan.
David is survived by his wife; four children: Diana J. Rees of Snow Shoe, Larry D. Chambers of Snow Shoe, Patricia C. Mihalik and her husband, Rick of Middlebury Center, and David W. Chambers, Jr and his wife, Amanda, of Snow Shoe; seven grandchildren: Nicholas Rees, Jonathan Rees, Brittany Rees, Carly Chambers, Kelly Chambers, Joshua Mihalik, and Danielle Mihalik; three great grandchildren: Jensen, Kinsley, and Isabella. He is also survived by one brother, Philip Chambers and his wife, Martha, of Clarence.
Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by one son in law, Gregory Rees, and four brothers: David Chambers, Cordes Chambers, Jr., Roy Chambers, and Howard Chambers.
A public viewing with be on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 10am – 12 noon followed by a funeral service at 12 noon with Father Michael Wolfe officiating at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc in Snow Shoe. The burial will be private at Centre County Memorial Park.
