David L. Etters Obituary
David L Etters, 71, formerly of Snow Shoe, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the Embassy of Hearthside Nursing Home in State College. Born on November 27, 1951, in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late David H. and Shirley A. (McCloskey) Etters.
David was a 1969 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School. He worked for various companies throughout his working career, mainly driving trucks. His last employment was with HRI as an equipment operator and heavy truck driving. He retired after many years of service.
David was of the protestant faith. He attended the Snow Shoe Church of Christ with his parents years ago.
David enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to camp, and going for rides in the mountains. He took a class on how to repair guns. He repaired many rifles over the years and even made his own gun. His daughters remember him teaching them how to drive "stick shift" vehicles. He may have gotten a few gray hairs from that experience. He loved family time, especially with his grandchildren. He was a past member of the Clarence Legion, Clarence Moose, Young Democratic Club, Snow Shoe VFW, and the Snow Shoe Fire Hall.
David is survived by his two daughters: Rebecca L. Hemphill and her husband, Stacey, of Pine Glen and Rachel M. Stump and her husband, Kevin, of Dallastown and one sister, Deborah A. Pluebell of Snow Shoe.
Also surviving David are his nine grandchildren: Amber Homan, Devon Etters, David Bittinger, Kaden Bittinger, Cody Etters, Hannah Hemphill, Haylee Hemphill, Aiden Etters, and Brielle Stump; four great grandchildren: Raylee, Colson, Kylie, and Jalen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, David was preceded in death by his second wife, Joyce (Hatch) Etters, a daughter, Cathi J. Bittinger, and a sister, Susan Lidgett.
Public viewing will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 2-3pm followed by a funeral service at 3pm with Pastor Cathy Dittman officiating at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc, 106 W. Sycamore St. Snow Shoe.
