He was predeceased by: his parents, Linton D. Shirey Sr. and Mary Jane Helm Shirey; and his sister Katherine Louella Hogg. He is survived by: his siblings, Linton Duane Shirey Jr. (Dara), David Wayne Shirey (Elizabeth), James Gale Shirey, Stephen Chas Shirey (Dee), Susan May Bonner and Linda Christine Shaffer (late James). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
