He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Hartle and Emily Hartle (Guntrum); his wife Maxine Lerch (Burns); his siblings, Levi, Chester, Wilbur, Clarence Hartle, Helen McCleary, Norabelle McCamet and Shirley Stewart; and his stepson Arthur Lerch.
He is survived by: his stepchildren, Stephanie Eaton (William Schofield) of Rhode Island and Michael Lerch (Jane) of Erie. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great- great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 3rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Varner Funeral Home (1632 Bald Eagle St, Sligo, PA 16255). The military honors was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 9:45 AM at the same location. A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
