It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gloria Jean Greenawalt of Sligo, Pennsylvania, born in Stoneville, North Carolina, who passed away on October 29, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Simmons and Louise Simmons (Hutcherson); her spouse Thomas L. "Tom" Greenawalt; and her siblings, Saundra Copeland and Samuel Simmons Jr..
She is survived by: her children, John Greenawalt of Clarion and Melissa Shoemaker (David) of New Bethlehem; her grandchildren, Conner Shoemaker of Indiana, Nicholas Shoemaker of Dayton and Karlee Shoemaker of New Bethlehem; her sister Anita Dunn of Oak Ridge, TN.; and her sister-in-law Penny Adams of Knox.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 1st 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Varner Funeral Home (1632 Bald Eagle St, Sligo, PA 16255). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Clarion Cancer Center, or the VNA of Clarion.
