She was predeceased by: her parents, John Eshbaugh and Nellie Eshbaugh (McElravy); her former husband Allen Colwell; her husband Jim Smathers; and her granddaughters, Ashley Kriebel and Caitlin Colwell.

She is survived by: her children, Gale Simpson (Connie) of Toano, VA., Keith Colwell (Gerri) of Fairmount City, Mark Colwell (Debbie) of Ruther Glen, VA. and Joyce Mann of East Brady; and her pet Pierre. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Clarion Forest VNA, 271 Perkins, Rd. Clarion, PA 16214, or the Tri-County Animal Rescue Center, 9562 US-322, Shippenville, PA 16254.
