Elizabeth M. Bechtel Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elizabeth M. Bechtel of Slatington, Pennsylvania, who passed away on March 21, 2025 at the age of 89. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Elizabeth M. Bechtel to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Edwards and Catherine Edwards (McGarrity); her husband Joseph; her son Bernard; and her siblings, Margaret Powers, James, Thomas and Joseph.
She is survived by: her children, Joann McCracken (Julian), Mary Surdovel (Joseph Boyle), Edward (Louise), John (JoAnn), Joseph (Diane), James (Kathy) and Leonard (Max Aguilar). She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing was held on Wednesday, March 26th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, March 27th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, March 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Assumption BVM Catholic Church (649 W Washington St, Slatington, PA 18080).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Assumption BVM Church in Slatington, or the Lehigh Valley American Cancer Society, c/o the funeral home.
