Ned Eugene Nenninger Obituary
He was born on December 21, 1936, in Shippensburg, a son of the late Roy and Ruth (Farner) Nenninger. He married Shelby Jean Cummings on October 19, 1957, in Leesburg. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2017.
Early in life, Ned worked at the former Burkhart's Restaurant and Hoffman Mills. He spent the majority of his working life as a plate maker at James River/American Can, from where he retired. After retiring Ned was employed as the seafood manager at Weis (Cressler's) and then as the meat department manager at Wal-Mart.
In his free time, Ned enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and puzzles. He loved to go spotlighting and on mountain rides. At home Ned could be found watching sports, old westerns, and outdoor shows on television. He was always a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and also Penn State University.
He is survived by his daughter, Glenda J. Nenninger of Philadelphia; four sons, Lester R. of Fayetteville, Gordon E. of Walnut Bottom, Michael L. of Henderson, NC, and Robert K. of Shippensburg; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Ann Koser; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife of sixty years, Ned was preceded in death by two sons, Randy and Troy; and three siblings, Louis Hutchinson, Donald Nenninger, and Patsy Mentzer.
His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium. Chaplain Brenda Doyle will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home.
