He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert B. Shoop and Carrie Shoop (McGee); his former wife Mary Francis Shoop (Crouse); his daughter Mary L. Shoop; and his siblings, Dale, Warren and Jay Shoop.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley A. Wagner; his children, Pamela S. Martin of Chambersburg and John R. Shoop, Jr. (Dawn) of Newville; his stepchildren, Bonnie J. Hummel (Whalen) of Newville and Douglas C. Chestnut (Christine) of Newville; and his siblings, Jim Shoop, Donald Shoop, Shirley Diehl, Kay Dietrich and Bonne Fredricks. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
