He was predeceased by: his parents, James Witter and Grace Witter (Lehman); his former wives, Joann and Miriam; his daughter Nancy; and his sister Florence.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his children, Jean Thrush (Ray), Paul Witter (Pam), David Witter, Timothy Witter (Julie), Steven Witter (Wendy) and Mark Witter (Suzanne); his stepdaughters, Beth Doyle (Glen) and Debbie Dougall (Scott); his sister-in-law Kathy Hampton; his nephew Jon Luster; and his grandson Douglas. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
