He was predeceased by: his parents, Garfield L. Schafer and Eleanor Schafer (Bogert). He is survived by: his wife Ginny; his sons, Gary G. Schafer, Jr., Thaddeus L. Schafer and Christopher J. Schafer (Megan); and his grandchildren, Emma, Isaiah, Jonah, Micah and Sara Schafer.
Per Gary's request, he gave the gift of life through organ donation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Drew Michael Taylor Foundation, 946 Ashton Dr., Shippensburg, PA 17257.
