She was predeceased by: her parents, William Ovink and EthelMae Fox (Timm). She is survived by: her husband Gene D. Helman, Sr.; her children, Michele Meuse (David) of Maryland, William Meckl (Dawn) of Waynesboro and Steven Meckl (Mayra) of Virginia; her stepchildren, Niki Summers (Tony), Ralph Helman (Chris), Gene Helman Jr. (Kriss), Chester Helman (Debra) and Waylon Helman (Dawn); and her brother Roger Ovink (Jennifer) of Washington. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
