She was predeceased by: her parents, George W. Shields and Elizabeth Shields (Mull); her former husband Richard L. "Dutch" Hoover; her husband Irvin W. Bowers, Jr.; and her foster parents, Leroy McKelvey and Vera McKelvey.
She is survived by: her children, Roxanne L. Wenger (Jim), Lisa R. Mellott, Sherann E. Hoover and Johnny R. Edwards; her grandchildren, Rachele Wenger, James Wenger (Sierra), Travis Mellott (Ashley Lynn) and Matthew Holtry (Jenee); and her sister Cricket Thompson.
