He was predeceased by: his siblings, Linda Pauley and Gary Sawyer. He is survived by: his parents, Richard E. Sr. and Gladys Mengel Sawyer; his spouse Twila M. Dunham; and his brothers, Dennis Sawyer (Sue) and Thomas Sawyer (Stacy).

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church, 392 Coons Crossing Road, Shinglehouse, Pa. 16748.
