It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Norma Hanel of Shinglehouse, Pennsylvania, born in Olean, New York, who passed away on February 25, 2021, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvin R. Peterson and Neva N. Fitch Peterson; her husband DeWayne H. Hanel; her great grandchild Anna C. Schallert; and her siblings, Arthur Peterson and Arlene Hinman.
She is survived by: her daughters, Nerine C. Maier (Marty) of Allegany, NY and Brenda K. Bernard (Chris) of Powhatan, VA; her grandchildren, Jenifer L. Schallert (Joshua), Brooks M. Bernard, Nicolas L. Bernard, Julie A. Steele (Lee) and Scott M. Bernard (Savannah); her great grandchildren, Nathan Schallert, Emma Schallert, Alex Schallert, Lincoln Steele, Beau Steele, Tessa Steele, Rosie Steele and Aubrie Bernard; her sister Dolores Wind (Jack) of Salamanca; and her friend Beverly Huber (Al) of Shinglehouse. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of her life will be held when COVID-19 conditions improve.
