He was predeceased by: his parents, Neil Edward and Helen Doris Shope (Towsey); and his grandson Tyler Shope. He is survived by: his wife Lou Ann Shope (Landis); his sons, Dennis Shope, Jr. (Crystal) of Landisburg and Justin Shope (Lori) of Shermans Dale; his grandsons, Brandon Shope (Kaitlyn) of Landisburg, Jaxen and Chaysen Shope of Shermans Dale; his great grandchild Owen Shope; and his siblings, Larry Shope (Pat), Fred Shope (Mary), Andy Shope, Sr. (Virginia), Jean Kirk (Walter), Jill Kline of Carlisle and Nancy Shope of Canton, MI..
