He is survived by: his siblings, Howard Schmidt, Ruth Jordan, Robert Schmidt, June Neyhard, Betty Smethers, Russell Schmidt, Nancy Zehner and William Schmidt; his children, Penny Forgotch (Shenandoah Heights), Donald Schmidt, Jr. of Georgetown, DE, Derek Schmidt (Nichole), Audra Schmidt and Michael Schmidt; his former wife Edwina Matuszkiewicz; his grandchildren, Ryan and Randy; his stepgranddaughter Brittany; his pets, Layla, Danzig and Chino; his close friend Newfoundland (Australian Cattle); and his pet Smokey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
