He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Canton and Margaret Egan Canton; and his brother Joseph. He is survived by: his wife Claire Ferra; his children, Michael Canton (Maureen), Carla Shaffer (Richard), Albert Canton and Dana Stunkard (Michael); and his sisters, Severia Slaven, Wilma Torretti, Mary Delaney and Cynthia Rinto. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
