He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry H. and Mary Vandervort, Jr. (Neely); and his niece Amy Walters. He is survived by: his former wife Patricia Vandervort (Burns); his siblings, Janet Means (James) of New London, N. C. and Harry "Hughes" Vandervort, III (Gretchen); and his nieces and nephews, Janice Vandervort, Karen Casper, John Vandervort and James Means, Jr..
