She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl E. Hockenberry and Martha Hockenberry (Best); her stepmother Erma Jane Reedy Hockenberry; and her brothers, Carl Jr., Floyd, Frank and Jefferson.
She is survived by: her husband Charles E. Abel; her children, Cynthia Shugars of Thurmont, MD, Carolyn Owens (Timothy) of Hagerstown, MD, Charles H. Abel (Christine) of Kearneysville, WV and Jerry Abel (Sherry) of Springs, PA; her grandchildren, Robert Shugars, Jr. (Corki), Jennifer Nichols (Jamie), Angela Auldridge (Isaac), Paige Owens (Jacob Rockwell), Ryan, Becky, Sam Abel and Tyler Bennet (Samantha); and her stepbrother Robert Hockenberry of Meadville, PA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
