He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schmid and Esther Schmid (Edmundson) of Pittsburgh's Bloomfield; his sister Jean Donatelli; and his granddaughter Julia Ann Ashburn. He is survived by: his wife Vivian Schmid (Kaplack); his daughters, Leslie Ashburn (Ronald) and Lynn Spontak (Timothy); his granddaughters, Elena and Hannah Ashburn; and his siblings, William Schmid (Lorraine), Margaret Donahue (Robert), Marilyn Schmid (George Martzo), John Schmid, Robert Schmid (Georgia), David Schmid (Elaine) and Daniel Schmid (Amy). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 22nd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the R. D. Copeland LTD-Irvine Chapel (702 Beaver St, Sewickley, PA 15143). A prayer was held on Wednesday, October 23rd 2024 at 9:45 AM at the R. D. Copeland Funeral Home, Irvine Chapel (702 Beaver St, Sewickley, PA 15143). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, October 23rd 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary's Church (444 Glenfield Rd, Sewickley, PA 15143).
