He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Kanell and Roberta Kanell (Moeller); his stepson Brian Sullivan; and his sister Janet Walker. He is survived by: his wife Debbie Kanell; his children, Jennifer Lynn, Michael David (Jeani) and James Peter (Yasemin); and his siblings, Walter (Bonnie), Mary Kovacic (Andrew) and Roberta Kanell. He is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's honor to St. Peters Reformed Church.
