Paul Gingher Obituary
Paul Gingher, 86, of Scranton, died Thursday at the Gino J. Merli Veterans Center. His wife, Helen Marsico Gingher, passed away in 2017.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Fred and Mary O'Neill Gingher, he was a dedicated volunteer for many years at the West Scranton/Hyde Park Little League, where he spent many hours coaching local children at Battaglia Field. A veteran of the United States Army and the Airborne Division, he was an avid outdoorsman and also enjoyed fishing. Most of all, Paul was a loving family man who cherished all of his grandchildren.
Surviving are his daughter, Patricia Kovach, with whom he resided; son, Paul Gingher Jr. and wife, Helen; grandchildren, Gary Shea Jr. and wife, Heather; Tiffany Liples and husband, Vinny; Anna Swonsin and husband, Seth; Erin Chambers and husband, Mark; Katie Gingher and fiancé, Adam; great-grandchildren, Mark Miller Jr. and fiancée, Neveah; Madison and Emily Liples; great-great-grandson, Geovani Swanson; and sister, Ethel Perry.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Joe and William Gingher; and sisters, Patricia Gingher, Dorothy Ross, Mary Donvito and Roberta Propes.
The family would like to thank the nurses and aides of 2 South at the Gino Merli Center for their outstanding kindness and care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Basilica. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., Scranton.
