She was predeceased by: her parents, John V. Mattes and Helen Kobeski Mattes; and her former husband Richard A. Shahum. She is survived by: her sons, Richard J. Shahum (Amelia), Dr. Gregory Shahum (Andrea) and Brian Shahum (April); her stepchildren, Melanie D'Avanzo (Michael) of Bath, PA and Michael Mazzei; her grandchildren, Aliya Shahum, Aidan D'Avanzo and Joel Docze Shahum; and her siblings, Barbara Mattes and John V. Mattes Jr.. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen and St. Francis Commons, 500 Penn Ave., Scranton, PA 18503, or to donors' favorite charity.
