The memory of James Merkel of Scranton, Pennsylvania, who passed away on November 7, 2024 at the age of 85, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. In the vast expanse of eternity, James shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid James farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
He was predeceased by: his wife Carol Merkel (Shiner); and his sister Lois Walsh. He is survived by: his caregiver Wendy Hendricks (Paul) of Scranton; his grandsons, Paul Hendricks of Scranton and Charles Hendricks (Carla) of Scranton; and his pet Rex. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a great-niece and great-nephew.
Viewing was held on Wednesday, November 13th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home (318 E Drinker St, Dunmore, PA 18512). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, November 14th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Church (529 E Locust St, Scranton, PA 18505).
