With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gertrude Joan Hixson of Scottdale, Pennsylvania, who passed away on April 2, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry A. Stroud and Edith Stroud (Heidenrich); her husband Louis F. Hixson; and her siblings, Elizabeth Fancher, Harriett Williams and Harry A. Stroud Jr..
She is survived by: her children, Terry Hixson of Mt. Pleasant, Christine Lewellen (James) of Connellsville and Janie Hawk (George) of Scottdale; her grandchildren, Teresa Chiffons, Amanda Woy, Rick Irgang, Shaleigh Weir, Rachel Hollis, Samantha Villinger, Jill Myers, Jessica Askey and Jenna Sibal; and her sister Edith Schnaath of Wellsville. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, April 7th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Robert B. Ferguson Funeral Home (105 Spring St, Scottdale, PA 15683). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
