He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter V. Oakes and Bernice Oakes (Beals). He is survived by: his wife Ila Grace Hondel; his son Mark of Pittsburgh; his niece Sabrina Johnson of Franklin, PA; his sister Norma Saxton of Erie, PA; and his sister-in-law Carol Guth of Oil City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
