He was predeceased by: his parents, Loretta Sponhouse, (McNulty) and Walter J Sponhouse, Sr.; and his siblings, Sally Ann Yeager and Michael Guzick. He is survived by: his significant other Kathleen Staller (Brennan); his daughter Sarah Staller (Chrissy Gonzalez); his sisters, Irene (Sterling Santee), Loretta (Michael Skoufalos) and Kathleen (late Thomas "Dinker" Adamchick); and his stepbrother Vince Kane. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
