He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas H. Briggs and Dorothy Williams (Pearson). He is survived by: his wife Virginia Briggs (Charnock); and his children, Barry Buchecker (Nancy), Kevin Scott (Michele), Lisa Simon (Thomas) and Thomas H. Briggs (Susan). He is also survived by five grandchildren.
