He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Wesley Franell and Ann Gshinsky Snyder. He is survived by: his wife Linda (Weaver); his children, David Franell (Annette) of Scenery Hill, Norman Franell Jr. (Heather) of Ellsworth and Nikki Ritter (Elmer) of Scenery Hill; and his siblings, Michael'Buck'Franell of Pittsburgh and Nancy Zubovic. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
