She was predeceased by: her parents, Actwood Ringgold and Margaretta Ringgold (Powell); her husband Eugene B. Layton; her daughter Valerie Layton; and her siblings, Delancey Ringgold and Jelaine Boston.
She is survived by: her sons, Jeffrey (Maria Layton) and Gregory Layton of Apalachin, NY; her grandchildren, Christopher Martin, Bernie Layton (Michele) and Jared Layton (Emily) of York, PA; and her godchild Sandy Robbins of North Brunswick, NJ. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
