It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Whalen of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania, who passed away on April 28, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John A Lagorio and Josephine Lagorio (Gerard); her husband Wilbert "Sonny" Whalen; her granddaughter Jessica Whalen; and her son-in-law Hugh Kirkman.
She is survived by: her children, Patricia Campbell (Donald) of Cochranton, PA, Phyllis Miller Kirkman of Hubert, NC, Rosemarie Whalen of Gibsonia, PA, Teresa Whalen of Tarentum, PA., Thomas Whalen (Marletta) of Maysville, GA, David Whalen (Cynthia) of Long Valley, NJ and Stephen Whalen (Kristen) of Hubert, NC.; her grandchildren, Keith Campbell, Jason Campbell, Neil Miller, Bryan Miller, Joseph Miller, Kevin Miller, Heather Whalen Parrott, Melanie Whalen, Sarah Whalen DeCubellis, Matthew Whalen, Jonathan Whalen, Francis Whalen, Albert Whalen, Emily Whalen and Maggie Whalen; and her siblings, Genevieve Lamb and Gerard Lagorio.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Fox Funeral Home, Inc. (410 W Main St, Saxonburg, PA 16056). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Assisi Parish - St. Joseph (315 Stoney Hollow Rd, Cabot, PA 16023).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the South Butler Community Library PO box 454 Saxonburg PA 16056, Saint Francis of Assisi Parish, 315 Stoney Hollow Rd, Cabot PA 16023, or Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Department 290 Horne Ave, Saxonburg PA 16056.
