He is survived by: his wife Vera Eileen Opitz (Paxton); his children, Kathleen Ebbert (Vince) of Huntsburg, OH and Gordy Opitz (Linda) of Gibsonia, PA; his grandchildren, Kyle Opitz, Kelley Prentice (Ryan), Elissa Cowgill (Kris), Krista Craig (Larry), Sarah Ebbert and Shawn Ebbert; his great grandchildren, Grace, Ella Prentice, Evelynn, Paxton Cowgill, McKinley, Dakota Craig and Charley Ebbert; his siblings, Robert Opitz and Peggy Vance (Bill); and his sister-in-law Shirley Opitz. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
