He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Swenson and Grace Swenson (Astheimer); and his sister Janet Updegrove. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis; his stepchildren, Tammy Metka and Todd Kulp (Mary); his sister Nancy Mezaks (Walter); and his stepgrandsons, Chuck Armstrong and Brandon Dech.
