He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Knieriem and Clara Knieriem (Hook); his wife Marjorie (Fretzel); his daughter Kathy (Kim Konchan); and his daughter-in-law Denise Knieriem (James).

He is survived by: his children, James (Debra), Robert of Johnstown, PA and Thomas (Sharon); and his siblings, Donald Knieriem of Prescott, AZ and Carol Jane McGregor. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
