He was predeceased by: his parents, John J. J. and Opal Simpson Mattern; his son Lennis Mattern; and his siblings, Delbert, Paul, Carl, Robert, Clair, Leonard, Vern, Clyde Mattern, Ruby McCarthy and Ruth Neely.
He is survived by: his wife Linda A. Texter Mattern; his children, Lindy Russell (Tim) of Turkey City, Shari Causey (Rick) of Rosenberg, TX and Steve Mattern (Lisa) of St. Petersburg; his grandchildren, Jamie Kearney (Mike) of Turkey City, Becky Kriebel (Terry) of St. Petersburg, Kevin Causey (Amanda) of St. Petersburg, Rose Causey of Rosenberg, TX, Amanda Sherman (Adam) and Kaylee Jacobs (Caleb) of Lynchburg, VA; and his siblings-in-law, Inga Mattern of Salinas, CA, Patty Johnston of St. Petersburg, Maxine Landers of St. Petersburg and Donald W. Texter of Magnolia. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
