It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard J. Sweeney (Saint Marys, Pennsylvania), who passed away on November 14, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas R. Sweeney and Irene "Helen" Gurney Sweeney; and his brothers-in-law, John Rettger and Jack Geyer. He is survived by: his wife Christine J. Sorg; his sisters, Mary Ann Rettger and Irene "Tootie" Geyer; his nieces and nephews, Katie, Shelly Rettger, Becki Kopp, Bernie, Henry, Matt Rettger and Brian Geyer; his godchildren, Karl Weidenboerner and Ann Weglin; and his sister-in-law Lynn Sorg.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home (169 Center St, St Marys, PA 15857). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church. A burial was held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
