He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schwentner and Irene Herbstritt Schwentner; his wife Helen F. Kline; his sister Doris Clark; his daughter-in-law Brenda Schwentner; and his significant other Beverly Bennett.
He is survived by: his children, Karen Schwentner (David Nellis) of Port Matilda, Melvin Schwentner (Vicki Nelson) of DuBois and Alan Schwentner (Cheryl) of St. Marys; his grandchildren, John Schwentner (Madonna), Travis Schwentner (Andrea), Ashley Moyer (Jacob), Shanna Schwentner (Trent) and Dessie Zeek (Jeremiah); and his sister Noreen Olewnick (Ted) of St. Marys. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
