He was predeceased by : his parents, Earl VanAlstine and Pearl Rice VanAlstine; his wife Inez Hoak VanAlstine; his grandson Justin Geist; and his siblings, John "Jack" VanAlstine, Earl "Toots" VanAlstine, Charles "Chuck" VanAlstine, Bessie Frey and Anna Ferris.

He is survived by : his children, Annette Gerber (John) of Butler, James VanAlstine (Penny) of Brynedale, Penny Geist (Dennis) of St. Marys, Cynthia Boroi (Richard) of Kersey and Shelly O'Hara (Douglas) of Indiana. He is also survived by grandchildren; and by 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 9th 2024 at 6:30 PM at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home & Cremation Services (151 N Michael St, St Marys, PA 15857). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 9th 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
