He was predeceased by: his parents, George H. Willis and Gertrude Willis (Welsh). He is survived by: his wife Leah M. Willis (Wills); his children, Thomas G. Willis (Melissa) of Monroeville and Sharon L. Huss (Brian) of West Deer; his grandchildren, Jacob, Rebecca, Daniel Huss and Kylee Willis; and his sisters, Gail and Margaret "Peggy". He is also survived by the love of his life, his wife, and his children and grandchildren.

George was a founding member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
