With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mervin Eugene Nichols (Rural Valley, Pennsylvania), born in Avonmore, Pennsylvania, who passed away on February 25, 2018 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He is survived by: his parents, Ambrose Nichols and Marguerite Nichols (Wiley); his spouse Betty (Hartzell); his sister Gladys Thomas of Dubois; his children, Kenneth E. Nichols, Douglas A. Nichols (Kim), Laurie M. Leone (George) of DuBois and Debra J. Scott (Dewight) of McKees Rocks; his grandchildren, Douglas C. Nichols, Christopher G. Leone, Sara E. Nichols and Andrew G. Nichols; his sister Pauline Herzog; his son Walter D. Nichols; his grandsons, Joshua Nichols and Jeremy Nichols; and his friends, Clyde Neal and Gene Cogley. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to DuBois Nursing Home – Memory Lane Activities Fund, 212 S. Eighth St., DuBois, PA 15801.
