He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl H. Reist and Ruth I. Broughton Reist; his stepmother Elizabeth L. "Betty" Garman Summy; his son-in-law Shawn Evans; and his brothers, Ronald A. and Robin L. Reist.
He is survived by: his wife Mary A. Smith Reist; his daughters, Kristin R. Evans of Elverson and Karen J. (Bruce Uba) of Douglasville; and his stepbrothers, Mark E. (Mary Summy) of Rock Port, IN and Eric J. (Sadie Summy) of Lititz.
