He was predeceased by: his wives, Bernice Dettra (Yatsko) and Rosemarie Dettra (Schrump) of Royersford, PA; his parents, Frank Dettra and Helen Dettra (Boone); his siblings, Robert, David and Miriam; and his granddaughter Aubrey.

He is survived by: his children, Lynn Dettra Bozzelli, John F. "Jack" Dettra, Jr. (Fran) and Curtis Dettra; and his grandchildren, Michael (Rachel), Julian, Olivia, Ashley and Jaclyn (Damian).
