He was predeceased by: his parents, Karl Wapiennik and Rose Wapiennik (Kidzinski); his wife Elva Wapiennik (Bartron); and his son C. Eric Wapiennik. He is survived by: his daughter Ellen L. Steadman (Kim) of Rostraver; his grandchildren, Gabriella Kasper (Brendan), Tyler Steadman (Alyssa Paglia), Ryan Wapiennik (Heather) and Hannah Wapiennik; his great grandchildren, Adalynn Wapiennik, Riley Wapiennik and Emma Wapiennik; and his siblings, Eugene Wapiennik of Rostraver, Edwin Wapiennik of Monessen, Bernice Cider of Rostraver and Regina Bernet of Mich.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the James C. Stump Funeral Home (580 Circle Dr, Belle Vernon, PA 15012). A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the James C. Stump Funeral Home Inc. (580 Circle Dr, Belle Vernon, PA 15012).

“After meeting Carl just once, he made a great impression on me. Some people are like that but, in today's world, they are few and far between. Soft-spoken, knowledgeable, and kind are the words I'd use to describe him. As well as a true gentleman and scientist. I've notified the Pittsburgh Carnegie Science Center of Carl's passing and his groundbreaking contributions to its present-day operations. Blessings to you all, on a life well-lived.
