He was predeceased by: his parents, William P. Smith and Eleanor McClune Smith; and his brother Donald Paul Smith. He is survived by: his wife Josephine C. Dioguardi Smith; his children, Sherri A. (Patrick Todd Wilks), Rochester Twp, Renee D. (Bruce Herstine) and Robert D. Jr. (Paula Smith); his grandchildren, John Hamilton, Nicholas Wilks, Christian, Ben Herstine, Tyler Mannion, Samantha and Sabrina Smith; his great grandchildren, Lily, Leah, Avery and Miles; his brothers, James Smith and Douglas J. Smith; and his pet Chloe. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
