He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Shaffer and Kathleen McHattie Shaffer; and his siblings, Edward, Jack, Raymond Shaffer and Catherine Gavalya.
He is survived by: his wife Judith A. Gillingham Shaffer; his children, Marcie J. (Dan Sisco), Michelle R. (Ken Swab) and Dennis S. Shaffer; his grandchildren, Taylor Shaffer, Kenny, Ashley, Andrew, Colt Swab, Gianna, Gemma and Nico Sisco; his sister Deborah Sockaci; and his pets, Abby, Cassie and Roxy. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
