He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Kenneth Byers and Charlotte B. Byers (Smith); his wife Linda Byers (Stitt); and his close friend Mary "Nancy" Young. He is survived by: his children, Gerald E. Byers, II (Lesa) of Rimersburg and Luemma Foster (Shawn) of Brookville; his grandchildren, Kara Foster, Shawn H. Foster and Alanna Byers; and his sister Margaret Hannold of Strattanville. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
